Field Technician (IR)

Due to our continued growth, SEAM Group has multiple openings for Field Technicians in Iowa, Florida, Georgia, and Illinois. If you have experience working in an industrial environment and enjoy traveling to different companies, this could be the job for you.

Our Field Technicians are responsible for evaluating and monitoring the condition of our clients’ electrical, mechanical and structural systems using an infrared camera. Additional responsibilities may include vibration data collection and ultrasound testing (high voltage electrical and compressed air).

The best qualified candidates will have the following:

  • Prior experience working with electrical systems in an industrial setting  

  • Prior experience with Thermographic cameras is a plus

  • A strong safety orientation as well as being willing and able to wear up to Category 4 Personal Protective Equipment while on the job

  • The ability to climb ladders on equipment and work at heights of up to 30 feet

  • The ability to lift up to 50 pounds (electrical panel doors can be very heavy), reach above your head and below your knees, and crawl on your hands and knees occasionally

  • A willingness to travel 100% to customer sites across the United States

  • A high school diploma or GED equivalent

Veterans that served in a military role in which they learned about and worked on electrical systems are a great fit for this job!


Prospective candidates must meet the basic requirement to rent a vehicle (A valid driver’s license and at least 21 years of age).  Our technicians go to work locations by air or car. We pay for transportation, lodging, and offer a per diem. A corporate credit card is part of the package, and you are permitted to keep and utilize points earned through travel reward programs.

Having basic computer skills in current software platforms (Microsoft Office) and the ability to work with mobile devices, such as tablets, is important, as is the ability to speak and communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
